Natural Pasture Management - Weed Control

Kunekune pigs are an effective way to maintain, manage and eradicate unwanted pasture weeds.  Burdock, cockle bur, dandelions, etc. can be a problem in many pastures.  Mature burs can create numerous issues in the wool industry as burs become lodged in the coats of animals.  Preventing these plants from maturing saves time, money and energy.  However, removal of these plants can be very time consuming and labour intensive, especially for farms not wanting to use herbicides to control them.

The ability of Kunekune pigs to control and eradicate unwanted foliage is truly amazing.  Kunekunes love to eat weeds and will actually work away at a plant until they eventually pull out the tap root without damaging or rooting up the soil.  Kunekunes can be used in orchards to control weeds and grass.  Kunekunes graze naturally like cattle and sheep but do not chew at tree bark or leaves!

If you are looking for an economical, environmentally friendly, agriculturally sustainable weed control option, consider a Kunekune pig!
